Abstract

Polysemy is a word that has more than one meaning or has many meanings. The reason the researcher discusses the word wisdom in this discussion is because the researcher found a difference in meaning in the Koran between one verse and another. because different meanings in different contexts show that the word “al-Hikmah” is from polysemy. This is based on the results of the analysis of the language dictionaries and interpretations of the Koran. The word alhikmah is Polysemy in the Qur’an, this is proven because it has many meanings. The word al-hikmah is mentioned in the Koran in various forms in 210 verses, while the word al-hikmah itself is mentioned 20 times in 20 verses in 12 chapters. Seeing from the derivative of the word, that the word al-hikmah is a derivative of the word (hakama) which means prohibiting. If you look at other meanings, there are differences of opinion in determining the number of meanings, some say 6 meanings, others say 5 meanings, as for the meanings, namely: al-mau’idzhoh, as-sunnah, an nubuwwah, al-fahmu, al-qur ‘an, and ulum al-qur’an aw tafsiruhu. They agree on five meanings and disagree on the meaning of the Sunnah.
