Abstract

"Health is crown; no one may see it save the illness. This wise-saying is simill to what Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has commanded Muslims in order to find the cure of an illness. One of the methods in such case is to take the medicine as the medium for the sake of recovering of an ill. In the period of the apostle, the medicine that used is simply a single medicine, it means that the medicine that was made from one substance/ matter. During the development of science, the making of medicines develope into a major development and obtained several of medicines that use many kinds of substance. Nowadays, people consume medicines not just for the sake of its benefits, but furthermore they are also considering the lifestyle, the image and even the prestige 2 seems that among them have to do something which more than what he can do whomas in such those thing, it is not allowed in Islam. Or even the opposite of those, it seems that they don't really care of what material that the medicines were made of the proper thing is to take the function, the practical, and surely it's cheap. However it is recommended for Muslim to take medicine that allowed based on the precept and faith of Islam, for thems are many kinds of conventional medicines that made from suspicion matter such an alcohol. The purposes of this study are to find out the truly function of alcohol in medicines and to know the law of consuming alcoholic medicines in Islam. This study is literature study by normative approach, in order to collect data; the writer will use two supplementary methods: observation method. It will be done by domp thinking and then results the point to the degree scale. And then written records, it will be used by looking for data in experts' writings, transcripts, newspapers, mag Journals, as well surfing in internet. The data are taken from various books, news magazines, websites, and others, and supported by al-Qur'an and Hadith The methods of this research are: inductive method, to describe the general function of alcohol and consuming alcoholic medicine in Islamic law and use the deductive method to take the conclusion. To make the concept appear clearly, the writer uses the Method of Dam Analysis, to describe the deep function of alcohol and consuming alcoholic medicine in Islamic law. Based on the researched study, it known that a) the functions of alcohol or ethanol in medicines are divided into many functions, those are: 1) as solvent for many organic compounds. 2) Bactericide (anti-bacteria) 3) Alcobol polisher at radelacion external use and rubbing to relieve pain in patients 4) Germicide tools 5) Skin cleanser (antibiotic) before injection 6) Medicine's preservative, b) The laws of coming alcoholic medicine according to Islamic law are: 1) it is prohibited or hard, aco ding to what follows in terms of intoxication, because ethanol is the ruling follows the law of the alcoholic beverage. Save in emergency and necessity case 2) the usage of alcohol for medical purposes or production of medicines, such as used as a disinfectant and hand tools before surgery, skin cleanser before injection, or as a mixture of drugs or medicines in makrüh From this humble work, the writer hopes the critiques and corrections from the roader since there are many shortages and faults of this study. Also there will be the further study to manage a deeper and more comprehensively on this subject, as well as the continuation research for of ath-Thib an-Nabaw
