Abstract

Diabetes mellitus in Indonesia continues increase, this evidenced based on the data of Baseline Health Research 2018, about people with diabetes mellitus over the age of 15 years. Yogurt and cinnamon have a positive influence on type 2 diabetes mellitus with different mechanism processes. The aim of research is analysems effect of giving yogurt with cinnamon powder (Cinnamomum burmannii) on fasting blood glucose levels in rats. This research had experimental design with a pre-post test randomized control groups. The intervention was giving yogurt with cinnamon powder in rats. The measurement of fasting blood glucose levels of rats measured on 7th, 14th, and 21th days of treatment. Organoleptic test was performed to determine the level of yogurt preference with cinnamon powder. The samples used were yogurt (P1), yogurt with cinnamon 20% (P2), yogurt with cinnamon 40% (P3), and yogurt cinnamon 60% (P4). The results of the difference between Week 1 and Week 2 showed significant with p value 0.00, while the difference between Week 1 and Week 2 showed significant with p of value 0.00. Organoleptic test was performed to determine the level of preference of yogurt with cinnamon powder. The color most prefered the P1 sample with an average value of 5.30. The scent most prefered the P4 sample by 4,70 score. The taste most prefered P1 sample by 4.23 score. The texture most prefered P1 sample by 4.70 score. There was an effect of giving yogurt with cinnamon powder, all dosage variation can be received by panelis.
