Abstract

Islam is a religion that likes cleanliness, in body hygiene, clothing, and environment. If cleanliness is not maintained, then it will cause illness. One of the diseases that arise because someone does not keep the body clean is white discharge. White discharge or Fluor albus is a symptom of genital disorders experienced by women due to infection bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. This research discussed whitish caused by the fungus Candida albicans. The use of Candida albicans fungus in this study is due to 42% white discharge is caused by Candida albicans fungus. Green betel leaf (Piper bettle folium L.) and garlic (Alium sativum L.) are some natural ingredients that have the potential as an antifungal because of the content of antibacterial active compounds such as Phenol, phenylpropane and allicin. This reserach aims to see the effect of antifungal Candida albicans extract of green betel leaf and garlic after formulated as a liquid soap preparation. Liquid soaps are made using olive oil base, coconut oil, potassium hydroxide (KOH), and sodium carboxyl methyl cellulose (Na-CMC) as emulsifier between water and oil used. Then the liquid soap bases were added with leaf extract of green betel and garlic with variation of concentration formulation 1 is 75% (garlic): 25% (green betel), formulation 2 is 50% (garlic): 50% (green betel), and formulation 3 25% (garlic): 75% (green betel). The formulation of the finished soap liquid preparation was then evaluated. The evaluation of liquid soap extract of green betel leaf and garlic include organoleptic examination, pH, high foam, moisture content, homogeneity, and antifungal power test against Candida albicans fungus. The results showed that liquid soap extract of green betel leaf and garlic has antifungal activity against Candida albicans. The result of formulation with the highest inhibition zone is formulation 3, while the lowest inhibition zone is the formulation 1. The test of this liquid soap activity is higher than the positive control used which fluconazole is drug and liquid soap of female private parts spread in the market.
