Abstract
Red rice has compounds which potential as antioxidants due to the anthocyanin content of a pigment that gives red color found in the pericarp layer to the outer layer of red rice endosperm. The aim is to determine the antioxidant activity of red rice extract (Oryza rufipogon Griff) by calculating IC50 then to vitamin C, characteristic test results of peel off mask, and antioxidant activity in the formulation of peel off red rice extract mask (Oryza rufipogon Griff) with IC50 calculation. The extraction method in this research utilized maceration, and antioxidant testing on red rice extract and peel off rice extract mask using DPPH method using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry. The results showed that the antioxidant activity of red rice extract produced an IC50 value of 23.31 µg / mL while the antioxidant activity of vitamin C IC50 value was 33.92 µg / mL. The characteristic test results of the formulation of red rice peel extract mask formulation include a physical test of the preparation of faded red to a dark red almost black, smelling of propylene glycol and ethanol, semisolid and very sticky. The test results were pH 6.5 - 6.9, the drying time test was 11.47 - 12.17 minutes, the viscosity test was 2001 - 4960 cps, and the spread test was 4.03 - 4.38 cm. Antioxidant activity in the formulation of red rice extract peel off mask with IC50 calculation in F1 was 64.24 µg / mL, F2 was 116.11 µg / mL, and F3 was 276.83 µg / mL.
