MARTIN LUTHER’S CONCEPT ON REFORMATION OF CHURCH (ANALITICAL STUDY AND PHENOMENON ON THE DENOMINATIONS OF CHURCH)
Abstract
The reformation of church carried out by Martin Luther centered on Christians who
wanted to be saved from the deviant teachings of the Catholic church. One of Martin
Luther’s thoughts in reforming the church, is a unique understanding of the problem of
sin and its acceptance into God’s presence. Martin Luther began to inch his way toward
his own distinctive understanding of how sinners are able to enter into the presence of
a righteous God, classically expressed in the doctrine of justification by faith. And from
the events that Martin Luther has done in reforming the church does it have a different
influence on Christianity today. The problem that the writer regards as important to study
and remains relevant as well is how is Martin Luther’s reformation of church and his
denominations of church today.
Departing from some of these things, the writer wants to explain Martin Luther’s
concept on reformation of church, and to find out the impact of Martin Luther’s reformation
of church in denominations of Church today.
To achieve the purpose of the discussion, the writer uses phenomenological approach
to seek and describe experience as it presents itself to subjective consciousness. As for
research methods, the writer uses descriptive and analysis methods. Descriptive method
used to explain definition of church reformation, denominations and Martin Luther. While
the analytical method used to find out the impact of Martin Luther’s concept on reformation
of church in denominations of church today.
The writer comes to the results that the main basis of the reform movement is the
power and highest position by the Scriptures that exceeds all forms of world power. Their
forms of belief differed on the way in which the Scriptures were delivered, the present
church denomination occurred after the reform movement. Martin Luther’s idea emerged to
put up 95 theses of criticism for the teachings of the church which he thought were devoted.
And after the success of Martin Luther in reforming the church. Church denominations are
created after reforming the Catholic church. Some Christians feel anxious about the church
denominations around them which will only make them divide and not unite until now.
The writer feels that this writing is still not perfect enough, because there are still
many the lacknesses in it. The writer hopes that the next researcher can discuss the matter
more comprehensive.
