Happiness is general discussion which never release to be reviewed for every times. Along with the development of the modern era, the happiness still remains as the goal of human life. However, with the advancement of technology as well as the achievement of the modern era, in fact it was not entirely brings human to happiness. It was caused of the influential of fundamental substance which based and brought by the concept of happiness itself. Some of Western concept of happiness were more deviate from moral value. Such as the happiness which based on materialism, hedonism, pragmatism, etc. Also some Western Philosophers who have the concept of happiness which unappropriate with human ideology of life. Further, it was refuse the religion from life. Until many people feel worry, anxiety and moral decadence in the modern life. This thesis aims at examining the thought of Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah, he was a multitalented Indonesia scholar. Many of his thought was influence many disciplines such as politics, literature, cultural history and teachings of the renewal of the Neo-Sufism. So the researcher aims to examine how the concept of happiness, according to Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah. By exposing, explaining the concept and finding the relevance between it and life in the modern era. These research is library research. While the method used descriptive analysis method. With the outlines of the concept of happiness, according to Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah and compare it with other thinkers from either the West or Islam. In this study, the researcher uses the Sufism approach based on the system to complete the related problem of happiness and achievement in the modern world. The results of this study concluded, that with all the problems in this modern age Hamka was calling for modern man to return to religion. Because fitting with his concept, the religion is the main road to reach the happiness. By the religion human able to manage the reason and mind, so the reason could to achieve the knowledge easily.
