Asy Syifa', Naila
Abstract
The emergence of feminism is inseparable from the long journey of the history of the struggle of western women demanding their freedom. Women at that time did not have a place in the community, they were ignored, had nothing, and could not take care of anything. This western history is considered to be impartial to women. In feudal society (in Europe until the 18th century), the dominance of philosophical mythology and church theology was full of harassment of women, where they were positioned as something low, namely the source of temptation and evil. More specifically, this study reviews of liberal feminism on women's freedom. In presenting the discussion of this paper, the researcher used a descriptive method to describe the Liberal Feminist view of women's freedom through primary and secondary sources. The researcher also used the analytical method to find out the cause of the birth of freedom of women who later learned the results of the Liberal Feminist view of the purpose of freedom. This research obtained results from the feminist movement in the West, undeniably, was a response and reaction to the situation and conditions of life of the people there. The main causes are the one-eyed view of women, various kinds of bad assumptions (stereotypes) attached to them, as well as various negative images that manifest in the values of society, culture, law, and politics. As a result, the role of women is limited to the scope of the household. They are not allowed to interfere in men's business. Western women with their Women Liberation want to break down "this temporary obligation is mandatory for women without foundation, besides showing women's ability to stand equal with men in obtaining rights. Western women have started their steps in the 19th century with demands for equal rights with men in the public and domestic sectors. Movement called by various groups as a feminist movement. Liberal feminism believes that every human being has some special capacity for self- actualization. Liberal feminism also wants to equalize the degree of women with men in the church and social environment. This research still has many shortcomings both in terms of language, discussion and content. There are still a number of things that cannot be discussed, especially related to women's freedom in liberal feminism. The author's hope, this research can contribute to further discussion. So that it can be used to explore with critical and comprehensive discussion.
