CONCEPT OF ZAKAH PAYMENT FOR NON-FUNGIBLE TOKEN CREATORS ON COLLECTIBLES IN INDONESIA
Abstract
Technological innovation is always developing all the time. This is unavoidable because we unknowingly contribute to this growth. Art and creativity which were previously limited to painting tools have been replaced by digital art which is a form of digitization. NFTs are emerging as a platform that encourages creators to digitize their creations. Currently the NFT industry is popular among young people, because it can generate millions to billions just in NFT sales. Because the results of NFT sales are fantastic, they have the potential to be zakatable like other professions. In this research, qualitative research was integrated with library research methods. Based on a compilation of e-books, journals, and articles on NFT and Zakat. With descriptive analysis methodologies and reflective thinking are used to characterize concepts derived from collected data.. Based on the research results, the Zakah Payment for NFT Creators can be implemented by converting local money. Profit points on NFT Creators in Cryptowallet are transferred to cryptocurrency platforms by first selling crypto assets. Once the crypto asset is sold, the profit is transferred to the bank account. Deposits in bank accounts can be used to pay zakat. In a Sharia perspective regarding zakah, the proportion of zakat on the benefits of this NFT is 2.5 percent, with a nisab equivalent to 85 grams of gold. NFT creators cannot use cryptocurrencies to pay zakat on profits earned because there are elements of gharar and maysir.
