Abstract
The prevalence of dysmenorrhea is high in Indonesia, reaching 64.25% of 60-75% of adolescents. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used to reduce dysmenorrhea. However, adolescent girls' knowledge of NSAID use is still not well understood, although knowledge may influence a person's use of the drug. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of female students on the use of dysmenorrhea drugs in female students of Darussalam Gontor University. This study is a non-experimental study with a cross-sectional analytical survey type. The sampling technique used purposive sampling method and data collection using a questionnaire instrument. The sample used was 99 people from the total population of 1,682 UNIDA Gontor students in 2024. Data were collected on the prevalence of dysmenorrhea, level of knowledge about NSAIDs and the relationship between the level of knowledge and the use of NSAIDs to treat dysmenorrhea. Data analysis was performed using Spearman rank correlation test with SPSS 26.0 and 95% significance level. The results showed that the prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Unida Gontor out of 1,682 people showed that rarely dysmenorrhea as much as 43.6%, often dysmenorrhea 34.2%, and never dysmenorrhea 22.2%. The level of knowledge of 99 Unida Gontor students showed that 62.6% had a good level of knowledge, 29.3% had a fairly good level of knowledge and 8.1% had a poor level of knowledge. The level of knowledge of Unida Gontor students had a relationship with the use of NSAIDs to treat dysmenorrhea with a p-value <0.05. The relationship was classified as positive (rs = 0.881).
