Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) contributes to high morbidity and mortality rates. Urinary tract infection is an infectious disease caused by the growth of microorganisms in the urinary tract such as bacteria, viruses or other organisms. This disease can be found in children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. This study aimed to determine the profile of antibiotic use and evaluation of antibiotic use in patients with urinary tract infections in the inpatient installation of Dr. Moewardi Regional General Hospital for the period 2023. This research method is descriptive and qualitative by collecting medical record data from patients with urinary tract infections retrospectively at Dr. Moewardi Regional General Hospital. The results showed a pattern of UTI patients based on male gender as many as 30 (30%) patients and female patients as many as 70 (70%). Patients were hospitalized for 3-7 days as many as 71 (71%). The profile of antibiotic use as many as 107 antibiotics were used, with the highest percentage of ciprofloxacin antibiotics as many as 69 prescriptions (64%). The results of a qualitative evaluation of antibiotic use with a sample of 100 medical records showed that antibiotic prescriptions were in following the guidelines with details of category 0 as much as 76%, category II B as much as 18%, category III B as much as 4%, category IV C as much as 1% and category IV B as much as 1%.
