THE EFFECT OF KNOWLEDGE LEVEL OF UNIDA GONTOR STUDENTS IN THE SELECTION OF HALAL AND SAFE COSMETIC PRODUCTS
Abstract
Knowledge regarding the selection of halal and safe cosmetic products is currently
really needed. During 2021, 202,304 types of cosmetics have distribution permits by the
Indonesian POM. The number of discoveries of illegal products is a separate warning for
consumers to be smart in choosing products with safe ingredients by those specified in
the BPOM statement and choosing materials that are allowed in Islam. The POM Agency
states that several criteria for cosmetics that can be categorized as safe must include the
use and how to use them, not containing harmful chemicals, labels, packaging, marketing
permits, and expiration dates. Then the halal aspect of cosmetics refers to the ingredients
in them. Good material is not only seen from its safety but also must be clean and holy. The
type of research used is observational research with cross-sectional method. The results
were that there were 62 respondents (65%) in the pretest and 76 respondents (80%) in the
posttest have good knowledge regarding halal and safe cosmetics. Meanwhile, there were
33 respondents (35%) in the pretest 19 respondents (20%) in the sufficient category. The
results obtained in the simple linear regression test are 0.445, which is <0.05. This indicates
that there was no significant effect between the level of knowledge of the respondents and
the selection of halal and safe cosmetics.
