THE EFFECT OF ZAKAT AND TAXES ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN INDONESIA
A tax is a compulsory financial charge or some other type of levy imposed on a taxpayer (an invidual or legal entity) by governmental organization in order to fund government spending and various public expenditures (regional,local,or national). Zakat is a form of almsgiving to the muslim treared in Islam as a religious obligation. Taxes and Zakat are one of the government’s instruments in improving the economy in Indonesia. This study aims to determine how the effect of taxes and zakat on economic growth in Indonesia in 2002-2019. This research is a type of quantitative research using time series data. The data collection method is carried out by accessing reports published by the Central Statistics Indonesia, the Amil Zakat Agency and the Directorate of Taxes, then processed by using the Eviews 6 analysis tool. The data were further tested which included stationarity test, classical assumption test (normality test, multicollinearity test, autocorrelation test and heteroscedasticity test), and statistical test (t test, F test and R2 test). Based on the results of the tests conducted, it shows that the tax variable has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, the Zakat variable has a positive and insignificant effect on economic growth. Simultaneous test shows that the variables of tax and zakat have a positive and significant effect one economic growth.
