ANALYSIS OF DRUG RELATED PROBLEMS (DRPs) IN PA TIENTS WITH BRONCHOPNEUMONIA PEDIATRIC INPA TIENTS AT TIDAR MAGELANG HOSPITAL
Abstract
Acute respiratory infections (ARI) bronchopneumonia in developing countries is a
cause of death in children. In the treatment of children, it is necessary to match the condition
and weight of pediatric patients; if there is an inaccuracy in treatment, DRPs will occur.
Drug-related problems (DRPs) are problems associated with medical errors in treatment. The
purpose of this study was to determine the treatment profile of patients with bronchopneu
monia ARI and to determine the incidence of DRPs, which include indications without drugs,
drugs without indications, inappropriate drug selection, under-dose, over-dose, and potential
drug interactions in the treatment therapy of bronchopneumonia ARI in hospitalized pediatric
patients at RSU Tidar Magelang. The study was a descriptive study with retrospective data
collection of 100 patients in 2023. The treatment profile of pediatric bronchopneumonia pa
tients in this study showed the administration of antibiotics and bronchodilators and the pro
vision of supportive therapy such as antihistamines, analgesics, corticosteroids, and others.
Analysis of DRPs in patients who experienced at RSU Tidar Magelang found 38 drug-related
problems (DRPs), according to Cipolle, with the following details: indication without drug 0
cases, drug without indication 0 cases, inappropriate drug selection 1 case (2.63%), over dose
15 cases (39%), under dose 0 cases, ROTD and adverse reactions 22 cases (58%). The con
clusion of the study is that the treatment profile of pediatric bronchopneumonia patients in
this study shows the administration of antibiotics, bronchodilators and the provision of sup
portive therapy such as antihistamines, analgesics, corticosteroids and others, the administra
tion of these drugs is in accordance with the patient's condition, and Drug Related Problems
(DRPs) in hospitalized patients with pediatric bronchopneumonia ISPA diagnosa at Tidar
Magelang Hospital with the highest category being excessive doses, and there is potential
DRPs occur in cases of like unwanted reactions and harmful interactions.
