Abstract

This article elaborates philosophically the construction of Suhrawardi’s Epistemology of Illumination, by exposing his arguments about the scientific process. Specifically, it will show Suhrawardi’s cri- tique of Peripatetic logic and then position them in the extracting knowl- edge process. Then uncover the Suhrawardi’s bid which claims can take human beings acquire a real knowledge, with finding a provision for a valid knowledge. This thought would certainly be an alternative scien- tific model in the middle of the patterned rationalistic scientific develop- ments. So, by uncovering the deeper elements, it could be this illumina- tion knowledge model can be an alternative to crisis of modern science currently. There are several issues were discussed, i.e. Suhrawardi’s attention over the issue of knowledge validity and problems of logic, then elaborate the basic method of Isyraqiyah Philosophy, and the most basic it discusses fundamental structure of illumination logic. This ar- ticle also shows the Suhrawardi’s epistemological consequences with the thesis that God is the object of “’irfan> ” not object of “’ilm”.
