Said, Wan Aziza (2024) ANALYSIS OF THE HEALTH LEVEL OF SHARIA BANKS USING THE RGEC METHOD IN 2019-2023. S1 Undergraduate thesis, Universitas Darussalam Gontor.
Abstract
Indonesia embraces a dual banking framework where both conventional and Islamic banks operate simultaneously. Yet, despite this coexistence, Islamic banking holds just 7,3% of the nation’s total banking sector. Banks with a larger market share tend to be more stable because they have more customers and resources to deal with economic uncertainty. This contributes to the continued operation of banks as they can more easily manage risk, attract investors, and increase revenue. This stability is related to the bank's health in the long term, where banks can develop more effective strategies and survive in the market. The health of a bank serves as a silent but powerful force behind customer confidence, making it essential for banks to not only preserve but elevate their health levels. Knowing the health level of Islamic banks helps ensure their sustainability and financial stability. Banks with strong financial conditions are better able to survive in the face of uncertain economic conditions and can contribute to sharia-based economic growth. This research seeks to examine the health of Islamic banks from 2019 to 2023, employing the RGEC (risk profile, good corporate governance, earning, and capital) method. Using a quantitative approach coupled with descriptive analysis, the study delves into the intricate layers of what defines a bank’s strength and stability in a competitive financial landscape. The result of this study is that in 2019 the health of Islamic commercial banks was ranked "quite healthy" which then improved in 2020 by getting a "healthy" rating, in the last 3 years the health of Islamic commercial banks has declined again with a rating of "quite healthy". In this case, PT. Bank Aceh Syariah, PT. Bank Mega Syariah, PT. Bank BCA Syariah, and PT. The Sharia National Retirement Savings Bank is very good at managing the bank's financial performance. To increase the trust of the public because for five consecutive years, these banks can be ranked very healthy. Meanwhile, PT. Bank Muamalat Indonesia, PT. Bank Jabar Banten Syariah, PT. Bank Panin Dubai Syariah, PT. Bank Syariah Bukopin, and PT. Bank Aladin Syariah can be said to be still far from the standard set by Bank Indonesia in terms of the component of factors that still have an unhealthy rating.
