Abstract

The failed attempt of price stability by a conventional system due to some reasons, one of them is the use of riba, because the existence of riba will give profit in one side and loss for other side, as well as riba affects all sectors of the real economy. The result was closed chance for millions of jobs. In practice, this money just play in the financial sector. So that people are not compelled to invest his money to productive sector and happened the economic bubble which can't realize price stability. According to these phenomenas, the researcher wants to discuss strategies towards price stability in Islamic economics. The researcher search and analyze the ideas from one specialist in Islamic economics which he has active in this problem, namely Umer Chapra. Based on this research, this study aims to review about strategies to achieve price stability in Islamic economy according to Umer Chapra. This research is literature research by Islamic Economics Approach. In order to collect data, hence, the researcher collected data sources either primary or secondary. As for the data obtained through various books, journal articles, websites, etc. In collecting the data, the writter used Documentary Method, after collecting the data, the researcher should use Deductive Method to describe general view the concept of price stability in the Islamic economics and used Inductive Method to take the conclusion. To make the analysis appear clearly then the researcher uses Descriptive Content Method, to describe the deep concept of strategies towards price stability in Islamic economics according to Umer Chapra. According to Umer Chapra's concept, Umer Chapra offers four strategies. towards achievement of price stability in Islamic economics, both are filter mechanism, the right motivation, socio-economic and financial restructuring and the role of state. The filter mechanism offered is a mechanism of filtering the overloaded and unlimited claims of available resources, aimed on creating of equitable distribution on resources. Here, Islam is the filter towards achievement of equitable resources. Second, the right motivation which stand on motivating a person to serve the public then individual interest in order to fulfill the basic necessities. Third, socio-economic restructuring through the strengthening of moral values and the reformation of economic system for creating the economic stabilization and also the price stabilization. Fourth, the government role where the government ought to participate actively in utilizing the natural resources wisely for achieving macroeconomic goals, included the price stability. The researcher realizes that a research still has many weaknesses, so it needs to be completed. At least, this research can give a scientific contribution to the development of Islamic economics, especially in case of price stability.
