Abstract

The orientalist and pluralist mean to terminology of islam contradictively with muslim scholars' meaning. But unfortunately few muslims know it and criticized on this issues. According to orientalist that terminology of islam which meant by religion occurs as historical factor, because the original meaning is just submission. Moreover, this view developed by such pluralist that terminology of islam which meant submission and for all religions, and get understanding that all religions are truth that is submission. This understanding gives effect on understanding of Millah Ibrahim, that terminology of islam in Millah Ibrahim is not meant by religion of Islam cause Islam becomes religion through historical process, but this term meant by high submission for all religions. While that Jews, Christians and Isläm are Millah Ibrahim. This argument begins on their view about tawhid. Which they meant the word God in tawhid is the Abolute Reality and Allah is just relative name of God similar to YHWH, The Christ, Brahman, and Kami. Then whatever the religion is they are submitting to the One Absolute Reality, while their God is relative name. Their studies are referred to al-Qur'an but their approach which definitely contradictive with al-Qur'an. Based on this phenomenon, researcher will reveal the true meaning of terminology of islam in Millah Ibrahim according to al-Qur'an. Researcher analyzes by referring to scholars interpretation of the verses with related to terminology of islam. Than researcher, connect it especially with the verse related on Millah Ibrahim. And combining with Hadits explanation on that theme. In this study, researcher uses descriptive method and analytic critic. That is, researcher will represent orientalist and pluralist understanding on meaning of terminology of islam. Which, they presume that the meaning of terminology of islam is merely submission and it is for religions. so all religions, become true religion. Researcher will analyze it and criticize it. And the results from this study that orientalist states that terminology of islam which meant that religion is based historical process, is failure. Because terminology of islam in Millah Ibrahim is form of religion (din) Islam, with relating factor to tawhid, it is total submission and obedience to Allah, and conformity theory and practice, that for Millah Ibrahim qualified by al-Hanif. Moreover, that pluralist presumes about submission of Ibrahim is for all religion, is failure. Because the prove is that the deferent concept of submission from the deferent concept of God. And then both Jews and Christian cannot be included in to Millah Ibrahim as they avoid the teaching of Millah Ibrahim. Furthermore al-Qur'an asserts that the truth religion is total submission to Allah (aslama wajahahu lillahi) proved with the Good deeds (ihsan) and who follows Millah Ibrahim al-Hanif. And the follower of Millah Ibrahim is Muhammad and who believe in what revealed to him. Finally, researcher realizes this study out of perfect. Therefore, researcher expects from the readers the correction and ideas that will reach more full valuable this study. And researcher hopes, this humble studies can be little use for the next studies.
