Talmudic Teaching and Its Implications For Jewish Ethics (Worldview Analysis Study)
Abstract
Jewish Ethics. As the main moral foundation in the life of the Jewish
Nation, it is closely related to the teachings of the Talmud. As the most influential
source of law and tradition after the Torah, the Talmud shaped the worldview
and Jewish ethics and morals. But in its interpretation, there is a contradiction
between the Talmud and the Torah. This contradiction raises fundamental
questions about how the Talmud reconstructs the teachings of the Torah and the
extent to which that interpretation affects Jewish ethics and worldview.
This research aims to describe the implications as well as criticize the
teachings, and the Jewish worldview formed by the Talmud in Jewish ethics and
perspective.
This research is a descriptive qualitative method with a theological
approach in view of the implications of Talmudic teachings on Jewish ethics.
Research through text analysis of Talmudic teachings and supporting literature
from various sources of books and journal articles.
The results of this study show that the Talmud as a holy book forms the
Jewish worldview. how they view God, life and also humans, which from this
worldview forms Jewish ethics in terms of the way Jews think, believe and also
act.
This research provides critical insights for the study of Jewish ethics and
perspectives and supports cross-cultural and religious dialogue. This research
has not reached the perfect stage, and there are still shortcomings. Hopefully this
research can be useful for readers in particular and can expand religious horizons.
