Zahra, Tatu Azizatu (2025) The Relationship Between Religion and Science According to John F. Haught. S1 Undergraduate thesis, Universitas Darussalam Gontor.
Abstract
The theology of evolution developed by John F. Haught is a significant initiative to harmonize the theory of evolution with religious beliefs, especially in the context of the Christian tradition. He rejected the view that evolution was a random and meaningless process, and tried to show that evolution could be in line with theological beliefs about God and creation. His approach is based on the "metaphysics of the future," which highlights the ever-changing nature of reality and the possibility of new understandings of God and creation. Haught emphasized that reality is constantly evolving and open to new possibilities. In other words, theology should not be stuck in old understandings, but should be able to adapt to the latest scientific discoveries, including evolution. So that this perspective allows for a dynamic interaction between science and religion.
