Kamal, Aria Nur
Abstract
In the modern era, the idea that religion causes stagnation and decline has spread to all areas of life, including politics. To address this issue, the West promotes secularization, which desacralizing political values and separates them from religion. The absoluteness of moral judgments in politics has diminished leading to numerous ethical violations in political life. This research aims to analyze the integration of Islam and Politics according to Said Nursi as well as its application to the modern secular political phenomenon in order to address the issue of political desacralization caused by secularization in this modern era. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study to collect data related to Said Nursi's works or related to him, after collecting the data the researcher will describe it : (1) a specific descriptive-analytical method (2) Said Nursi's political thought (3) philosophical approach. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Nursi offers a new approach to modern political practice: mânâ-yi ismi and mânâ-yi harfi, as well as the application of Sharia. Mânâ-yi ismi reflects a secular worldview, while mânâ-yi harfi explains al tashawwur al islâmy, instilling aqidah, or belief, through an understanding of al tashawur al islâmy(mânâ-yi harfi) into Muslims to realize faith in their individual and social lives. This is achieved through the teachings of nazar, which encourage sincerity in one's actions, and ends with the application of Sharia.2) Nursi proposed integrating Islam and politics through two processes: desecularization (takhliyah) and integration (tahliyah). First, modern politics must be liberated from secular perspectives (mânâ-yi ismi) that deny God. According to Nursi, mânâ-yi ismi is an incorrect approach to politics. This must be corrected from the point of view of mânâ-yi harfi. Second, Nursi suggested adorning politics with the mânâ-yi harfi worldview. Through this process, all entities are bound together and serve as indicators of God's existence. Someone wearing mânâ-yi harfi "lens" will see a strong relationship between God and His creations. With the completion of this study, the researcher offers several suggestions. Future researchers interested in studying Said Nursi's political thought are encouraged to visit his birthplace and explore socio-political in order to deepen and enrich future research in this area.
