ZAKAT PROFESSION ON SALARY SYSTEM MANAGEMENT (Case Study at “BP-ZIS Bisnis Indonesia”)
Abstract
Zakat as worship of social value has a very important role in building the economy
and eliminating the gap between the rich and the poor so with zakat it is expected that justice
is present in people’s lives. Nowadays scholars issued a form of zakat that have not been
known neither at the time of prophet Muhammad nor sahabah namely zakat profession on
salary, seeing the number of jobs that were not available at that time but has a great income.
Zakat can play a maximum role if managed by zakat management institution not directly
by each individual, unfortunately many of the Muslims who pay zakat directly not because
of a lack of understanding of religion but because of the lack of public trust against the
zakat management institution.
Seeing from the background above, researcher wants to look deeply zakat
profession on salary system management that happened at the zakat management
institution especially in the system of collection and distribution of zakat funds. BP-ZIS
Bisnis Indonesia is a zakat management institution under the auspices of Bisnis Indonesia
a subsidiary company of PT Jurnalindo Aksara Grafika which was established as a facility
for employees in distributing their zakat profession on salary which is taken from the salary
of employees each month.
To achieve above research objectives researcher used descriptive qualitative
method which describes the zakat system management applied by BP-ZIS Bisnis Indonesia.
Secondary data in this study is the theoretical foundation derived from the literature study
in previous studies and journals also additional reference books which strengthens the
theoretical foundation about standard of zakat system management. As for the primary
data obtained from interviews with the chairman of BP-ZIS Bisnis Indonesia as well as
guidance on zakat management published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
As the result, researcher found that BP-ZIS Bisnis Indonesia does not have muzaki
and mustahiq data collection in the zakat profession on salary system management so
zakat funds have not provided maximum benefits on mustahiq economic development and
awareness of muzaki to pay his zakat on salary.
Eventually, researcher acknowledge that this study still far from perfect. So with
all humility researcher will receive criticism and suggestions from readers. And researcher
hopes this research can bring benefits for the object of this study, the readers, as well as the
next researcher so that this research can develop better than ever.
