Abstract

Hypertension is a multifactor disease caused by the interaction of various risk factors experienced by a person. Increasing age is one of the factors causing hypertension starting at the age of 45 years. Dates-Infused water have beneficial properties for the body. Among them are potassium content and phenol compounds which are antioxidants and function as antihypertensive agents. This study aims to determine the effect of dates-infused water (Phoenix dactylifera) on hypertension. The research design was used a quasi-experimental design with two groups of pretest and post-test design. Subjects in this study were all of the elderly in Budi Dharma Love Nursing Orphanage in Purbalingga with 28 people with hypertension. The research subjects were then divided into treatment groups and control groups. The treatment group was given 200 ml dates-infused water given 1 time a day in 7 days. In the group not given treatment, only a pretest and posttest blood pressure dick. Based on the normality test using Saphiro-Wilk all data> 0.05 so that the data is normally distributed. Statistical analysis using paired t-test and independent t-test. The treatment group experienced a decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 7.57 mmHg (p = 0.000) and 5.71 mmHg (p = 0.000). This value is smaller than α (0.05), which means that there are significant differences in the systolic and diastolic experimental groups between before and after treatment with dates-infused water. The influence of giving datesinfused watereffective to decrease systolic and diastolic blood pressure
