Abstract

Christians believe in the concept of salvation with the Incarnation of Christ, or the presence of God in the flesh. It is believed that the salvation of Christians has been guaranteed since the birth of Jesus on this earth because he was born of the virginity of Mary and is said to be the son of God. With this Incarnation, theologians in the early and medieval ages began to study the faith of the Incarnation of Christ successively. Some people believe in it, and some reject this faith. With this, researchers will analyze the theology of the Incarnation of Christ according to Saint Athanasius and the implementation of the theology of the Incarnation of Christ by Saint Athanasius in the church today. In this study, the researcher uses a theological approach, while the method used by the author is a qualitative research method that uses library research, reviews of books, and collecting data contained in the literature. With this approach and method of writing, researchers can analyze and describe the understanding of the form of God by Saint Athanasius and Christians. As a result of this research, it can be stated that the concept of incarnation according to Saint Athanasius has a different understanding from the understanding of other theologians, because he defended this understanding as an idea that must be believed. Until he established this idea as a faith at a meeting of bishops at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. This can be seen from his view of the Incarnation as the Word having become flesh and dwelling among men. It is known that the impact of this concept is the birth of a new faith and a new stream of incarnation that Christians believe incarnate, namely, understanding the concept of the incarnation of Christ as the word that is present in human life. According to other theologians, the primary faith of Christians is the faith in the Trinity, the crucifixion of Jesus, and the transcendent and immanent God. Until the Incarnation, existence existed solely to make mankind continue to do good to fellow humans, help each other, and compete for good, not as an understanding that every Christian must believe. And it is from this understanding that the Incarnation is made into a belief and states that God is always present in every religious celebration among people. Thus, the researcher’s brief explanation of the Incarnation of Christ according to Saint Athanasius. Hopefully, this article can realign the faith of a religious person. Because faith is the main foundation of every religion and faith is believed in religion must be rational and come on an understanding that has been agreed upon by each of its people
