Parents’ religiosity refers to the degree of religious commitment exhibited by parents, as
demonstrated through their daily practices. This includes the beliefs, worship rituals, and moral
values parents embrace and impart to their children. Learning interest is a strong desire to
actively engage in and persist with learning activities, driven by a genuine curiosity and
enjoyment of the subject matter.
The problem formulations in this study include: 1) What is the level of religiosity of parents of
Grade VI students at SDN 001 Teluk Makmur Dumai? 2) What is the level of interest in
learning Islamic Education subjects for Grade VI students at SDN 001 Teluk Makmur Dumai?
3) Is there an effect of parental religiosity on learning interest in Islamic Education subjects of
Grade VI students at SDN 001 Teluk Makmur Dumai?
The objectives of this study are: 1) To find out how the level of religiosity of parents of grade
VI students at SDN 001 Teluk Makmur Dumai 2) To find out how the level of interest in
learning in Islamic education subjects of grade VI students at SDN 001 Teluk Makmur Dumai
3) To determine the effect of parental religiosity on the interest in learning in Islamic education
subjects of grade VI students at SDN 001 Teluk Makmur Dumai.
This research adopts a quantitative method with a survey approach and an associative
hypothesis. The population consists of 54 active students, and the entire population is used as
the research sample through a census technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and
analyzed with SPSS 25.0, employing descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests, and simple
regression analysis.
The simple linear regression analysis results, conducted using SPSS version 25.0, revealed a
significance value of 0.034 < 0.05 with 54 respondents and a 5% significance level. Therefore,
it can be concluded that the independent variable (Parental Religiosity) significantly influences
the dependent variable (Learning Interest) among sixth-grade students at SDN 001 Teluk
Makmur, Dumai.
Based on these findings, the researcher offers the following recommendations: 1) For schools:
It is recommended that schools strengthen their religious education programs and collaborate
with parents to boost students' interest in learning Islamic education subject. 2) For teachers:
Teachers should foster a more engaging and interactive classroom environment to make
students feel comfortable and motivated to learn Islamic education subjects. 3) For parents:
Parents should take a supportive approach to religious education, avoid pressure, and strive to
be role models in religious practice, not just in religious knowledge.
