COOPERATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) PROJECT OF SAUDI ARAMCO COMPANIES TO REALIZE A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY ECONOMY

Ramadhani, Jennifer Sakti
Abstract
Petroleum as the primary energy source has served as the core of global industrialization and the economy of Saudi Arabia. However, the increasing global energy consumption necessitates energy diversification towards more sustainable sources. This study aims to analyze Saudi Aramco's international cooperation, particularly in the development of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects, to achieve an environmentally friendly energy economy. The research employs a qualitative exploratory approach by analyzing secondary data, including journals, books, industry reports, and official documents. The findings reveal that Saudi Aramco, in collaboration with international partners such as ADNOC, PTT PCL, and SINOPEC, has successfully leveraged abundant natural gas reserves for LNG development. These projects support the global energy transition by offering cleaner fuels, reducing carbon emissions, and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification in alignment with Vision 2030. Through these partnerships, Saudi Aramco has been able to expand its global energy market reach by utilizing low-emission technologies and adopting green innovations, such as Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) and the integration of renewable energy into production processes. International collaboration is key to LNG development as a sustainable transitional energy source. Cross-border cooperation enables technology optimization while efficiently utilizing resources and creating green energy solutions that support economic growth and environmental preservation. This study recommends expanding investments in green technologies and enhancing synergies with international partners to ensure the sustainability of LNG projects.
