Abstract

Politeness strategy is a communication approach that aims to maintain social relationships, respect interlocutors, and minimize potential conflicts in interactions. This research aims to help create a peaceful environment, because lately many people do not understand the use of politeness in everyday life, for example, students who fight teachers, younger children are impolite with their elders and many more, therefore discussing more deeply about politeness strategies will be very influential to bring changes in everyday life. In this case, the object of this research is the film Bilal a new breed of hero, in the context of this film, the analysis carried out can help understand how moral values such as politeness, respect, and assertiveness in communication are displayed in the context of Islamic and Arab culture. The main theoretical approach used is Brown and Levinson's politeness theory, which identifies four main dimensions, namely bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and bald off record strategies.Positive politeness aims to create closeness and familiarity, while negative politeness focuses on respecting the privacy and autonomy of individuals. This study also discusses the factors that influence the application of politeness strategies, such as cultural norms, social hierarchy, and situational context. The factor that found in this study is bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and bald off record strategies. The type that is mostly found in this study is bald on record strategy with a total of 14 sentences, while the least found is positive politeness with a total of 6 sentences. While in the factor section, the most common factor found is the social status factor with a total of 15 factors, and the least common factor found is the social context factor with a total of 3 factors.
