THE EFFECT OF ANTIHYPERTENSIVE THERAPY WITH QUR'AN RECITATION THERAPY ON BLOOD PRESSURE AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS
Abstract
Hypertension is a condition characterized by an increase in systolic blood pressure
of ≥140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of ≥90 mmHg. This condition is often
referred to as a "silent killer" because it can lead to serious complications, such as
stroke and heart disease, if not properly managed. This study aims to examine the
effects of antihypertensive therapy and Qur’an recitation on blood pressure and the
quality of life of hypertensive patients. The method used is a quasi-experimental
design with a pre-test and post-test approach. The study involved three groups:
antihypertensive therapy without Qur’an recitation, antihypertensive therapy with
Qur’an recitation once a day, and antihypertensive therapy with Qur’an recitation
twice a day for three days. Data analysis used a Generalized Linear Model (GLM)
to determine the effect of intervention between treatment groups on blood pressure
and quality of life. Meanwhile, to determine the difference in blood pressure and
quality of life before and after treatment, the data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0
with a significance level of 95%. The results showed that antihypertensive therapy
combined with Quran recitation had an effect on lowering blood pressure, although
it was not statistically significant, with a p-value of 0.226 for systolic blood pressure
and 0.507 for diastolic blood pressure (p > 0.05). However, antihypertensive
therapy combined with Quran recitation significantly improved the quality of life
of hypertensive patients, with a p-value of 0.025 (p < 0.05).
