Abstract

such as the brain and heart. If hemoglobin (Hb) levels are low, a person may experience anemia, which affects cognitive abilities, concentration, and academic performance. This study aims to determine the relationship between hemoglobin levels and the academic performance of female students in a pesantren-based campus. This research employs a quantitative observational design with a cross-sectional method. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, comprising 84 respondents determined based on the Slovin formula. The study population consists of sixth-semester active female students at University of Darussalam Gontor. Inclusion Criteria: Willing to participate as respondents, Sixth-semester female student still actively attending lectures. Exclusion Criteria: Female students who were menstruating during data collection and female students with blood disorders (leukopenia, polycythemia, thrombosis, thalassemia). Hemoglobin level data were obtained through direct examination using Easy Touch, while academic performance was measured based on Grade Point Average (GPA) and Kesantrian Achievement Index. Bivariate data analysis in this study used the Chi-Square test. The research results indicate that there is no significant relationship between hemoglobin levels and Grade Point Average (GPA) on IPK scores (p = 0.952). However, for IPKS, it can be concluded that there is a no significant relationship between hemoglobin levels and Kesantrian Achievement Index (p = 0.055). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between hemoglobin levels and academic performance based on GPA and Kesantrian Achievement Index in a Islamic Boarding School-Based Campus.
