SUFISM REBORN: Revitalizing Traditional Wisdom for Contemporary Challenges

Ihsan, Nur Hadi
Abstract
This book, Sufism Reborn: Revitalizing Traditional Wisdom for Contemporary Challenges, explores the dynamic re-engagement of classical Sufi thought with modern existential concerns. It examines the foundational paradigms of Sufism—epistemological, doctrinal, and methodological—while juxtaposing them with contemporary academic approaches in Islamic studies and interdisciplinary frameworks. The work outlines mechanisms through which traditional Sufi concepts are transformed into applicable models for spiritual-psychological healing, social cohesion, educational innovation, and ecological consciousness. Through rigorous textual analysis and comparative study, the book identifies key literary and conceptual bridges between the classical and the contemporary, offering evaluative models and implementation strategies. By investigating case studies and institutional adaptations, it presents actionable insights for integrating Sufi wisdom into modern realities. The final chapter anticipates future developments, highlighting global and cross-cultural potentials for Sufi revival. This study contributes to a growing discourse on the relevance of spiritual traditions in a rapidly changing world and offers a roadmap for re-contextualizing sacred wisdom in response to today’s ethical and psychological dilemmas.
