IMPLEMENTATION OF BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE ON MARITIME INFRASTRUCTURE IN INDONESIA IN THE FIRST JOKO WIDODO REGIME

Abstract
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a cooperation program launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 to rebuild the modern Silk Road. The program aims to improve trade connectivity through the development of land, sea and air infrastructure. Indonesia, which has inadequate ports and is less competitive with neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia, utilizes BRI cooperation to accelerate port development. Through this cooperation, Indonesia receives investment, strengthens maritime connectivity, and reaps economic benefits, connectivity, and gain economic benefits. The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. This research examines how the implementation of the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) on maritime infrastructure development in Indonesia during the leadership of Joko Widodo. The results showed that BRI significantly contributed to improving national maritime connectivity, lowering logistics costs, and speeding up the delivery time of goods, which had a positive impact on Indonesia's economic growth. It also opens up opportunities for international trade expansion and job creation. Thus, BRI is a strategic element in strengthening Indonesia's position as the world's maritime axis and supporting sustainable infrastructure development. and supporting sustainable infrastructure development.
