CORRELATION BETWEEN HYGIENE AND HEALTHY LIFE KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, AND BEHAVIOUR WITH TYPHUS INCIDENT AMONG BOARDING SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Typhus is a disease that attacks the digestive tract and is caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. Typhus can spread quickly, generally through the consumption of food or drinks that have been contaminated Salmonella typhi bacteria. Objective: to determine the correlation of hygiene and healthy living knowledge, attitudes and behavior to the incidence of typhus in Islamic boarding school Gontor for girls 1. Method: this type of research was an analytical observational study with a case-control approach where the number of samples was 110 respondents. Statistical analysis of a statistical test that is using the Chi-square test. Results: it showed that 86,4% of respondents had good knowledge. It indicated that 35.5% of respondents had good attitudes about hygiene and healthy life. There was 82.7% of respondents who had good behavior. Statistical test of knowledge with typhus incidence had p-value = 0.405 meant that there was no significant correlation, for statistical test attitudes with typhus incidence p = 0.842 which meant there was no significant correlation, and for the statistical test of behavior with typhus incidence the value of p = 0.001 meant that there was a significant correlation with OR = 7.111 Conclusion: there was no significant correlation between knowledge and attitudes with typhus incidence, and there was significant between behaviour with typhus incidence.
