THE UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT (UNGC) STRATEGY IN PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN AFRICA
Abstract
This research discusses the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) strategies in promoting sustainable development in Africa. In the era of globalization, sustainable development is crucial to minimize the negative impacts caused by globalization and environmental crises. UNGC, an initiative established by the United Nations in 2000, plays a significant role in encouraging companies to adopt sustainability principles in their operations and strategies. This research aims to describe and analyze how UNGC contributes to promoting sustainable development in Africa through collaboration with multinational companies and various other actors, as well as to understand UNGC's role as an international actor in the context of sustainable development in the region This study uses the concepts of International Government Organizations and Transnational Advocacy Network (TANs) as a foundation for describing UNGC's strategies in promoting sustainable development in Africa. The findings of this research analyze UNGC's strategies related to sustainable development in Africa
