Abstract
Generation Z, born in the digital era, often faces unique challenges in discipline issues. whether in Islamic boarding schools or non-Islamic boarding schools. The lack of interaction with teachers and students, as well as parents who are too indulgent with their children in the boarding school in terms of discipline, have led to a decline in discipline education for students and this has had several negative effects on student discipline. So as a homeroom teacher who has a very important role in building student discipline and in addition, homeroom teachers can also be a substitute for parents in the cottage in providing good examples, as well as providing guidance and advice to help students develop self-discipline. Therefore, with the trust given by parents to Arrisalah Boarding School, the researcher will conduct research by discussing "The role of homeroom teachers in building student discipline at Arrisalah Boarding School. The objectives of this research are: (1) Know the role of homeroom teachers in building student discipline at Arrisalah Boarding School Slahung Ponorogo, (2) Know the inhibiting and supporting factors of the role of homeroom teachers in building student discipline at Arrisalah Boarding School. This research was conducted using a qualitative research method, with the research setting at Arrisalah Boarding School Slahung Ponorogo from January to March 2024. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. The researcher employs the data analysis technique model developed by Miles and Huberman. Data analysis used interactive analysis with steps such as data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. From this study, it is concluded that: (1) The role of homeroom teachers in building student discipline in Arrisalah Boarding School by using 5 indicators, namely homeroom teachers as educators who have the responsibility to provide direction, homeroom teachers as motivators who help students achieve the goals of discipline formation, homeroom teachers as advisors who are able to provide images, motivation, and advice to students in overcoming problems, Homeroom teachers as good role models so that students can emulate from the teacher, homeroom teachers as managers who help in still discipline in students and are consistent in applying rules and sanctions. (2) The supporting and inhibiting factors of the homeroom teacher's role in building student discipline in Arrisalah Boarding School are the keys to optimize the role of homeroom teachers in building student discipline in Arrisalah Boarding School and ensuring success in building the discipline character of students. Based on the conclusions, the researcher proposed several sara, in the form of: (1) For the leader of the lodge, it is necessary to convey to each teacher the importance of documenting each violation and achievement of students, making it easier for teachers to monitor the progress of individual students. (2) For students who often violate the rules and have difficulty in maintaining discipline, the actions taken by the teacher are not only limited to giving punishment, but also involve a deeper approach emotionally to the students The goal is that teachers can better understand students and find out the causes of difficulties in maintaining discipline. (3) For future researchers, researchers hope that future researchers can improve the quality of this research and explore more deeply the role of homeroom teachers in building student discipline. in order to be a useful reference for future research.
