Abstract
"An Analysis of Verb Stress in Dr. Dzakir Abdul Karim Naik's Speech at Universitas Darussalam Gontor" is research that examines the usage of verb stress in these remarks. In English, stress is crucial, particularly to non-native speakers, because it can change the meaning of words. Therefore, this research is urgently needed to conduct. This study was descriptive qualitative. The data were transcripts of Dr. Dzakir Naik’s speech. Those data were collected through documentation. Several steps were conducted to analyze the data, such as collection, reduction, categorization, data display, and conclusion. To demonstrate the significance of verb stress in English pronunciation, the study looked at twenty-three verbs employed in the speech. It categorized them as infinitive verbs, past tense verbs, and past participles. Despite English being his foreign language, Dr. Naik's speech demonstrated both proper and erroneous use of stress, with 16 of the 23 verbs examined displaying incorrect stress. Misplaced stress can cause misunderstandings, thus for non-native speakers like Dr. Dzakir Naik to properly communicate, they need to learn stress patterns. in the English language.
