Dwi Putri, Kayla Radina (2025) FORMULATION OF POWDER PREPARATION OF KERSEN LEAF EXTRACT (Muntingia calabura L.) AND INHIBITORY TEST AGAINST Staphylococcus epidermidis BACTERIA. S1 Undergraduate thesis, Universitas Darussalam Gontor.
Abstract
Miliaria (prickly heat) is a skin condition where eruptions papules and vesicles with a diameter of 1-3 mm occur in groups often due to blockages in the glands and sweat ducts of the eccrin. One of the causes of clogged sweat ducts is the presence of Staphlococcus epidermidis bacteria that produce Extraceluller Polysacharide Substance (EPS) compounds. Kersen leaves have flavonoid compounds, saponins and tannins as antibacterial. This research aims to prepare powder for kersen leaf extract and test the inhibition of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. This study is an experiment that formulates sprinkler powder with variations in the concentration of kersen leaf extract, namely 0% (F0), 5% (F1), 7.5% (F2) and 10% (F3). Physical evaluation of the preparation includes visual tests, pH, moisture content and fineness range. Antibacterial test using disc diffusion method. Data analysis uses One Way ANOVA with SPSS 26.0 and a signification level of 95%. The results showed that the powder preparation of kersen leaf extract (Muntingia calabura L.) in the visual test had a powdery texture, light green color, menthol aroma and had a warm sensation when applied to the skin, with a pH of F1 = 6; F2=6; F3=5, the preparation has a moisture content of <10%, namely F1=4.41; F2=4.25; F3=4.29 and has a degree of smoothness that passes through a mesh sieve of 100 with an average of F1=48.43 grams; F2=47.99 grams; F3= 47.76 grams. Kersen leaf extract powder can inhibit Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria with an average inhibitory power of F1=15.06; F2=16.41; F3=18.23 mm. Keywords : powder, Kersen leaf, extract, Staphylococcus epidermidis
