Abstract
The film is a form of entertainment that possesses a strong appeal. It is often regarded as a powerful mass communication tool for society due to its audio-visual nature. With this characteristic, films can convey messages in a short amount of time. One of the common themes in films is family relationships, including a mother's love. The 2022 film Just Mom is a family drama adapted from the novel Ibu, Doa yang Hilang, written by Bagas Dwi Bawono. The film was produced by Hanung Bramantyo and directed by Jeihan Angga. This study aims to understand how the meaning of a mother's love is represented in the 2022 film Just Mom by Jeihan Angga. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, which examines the meaning of signs through denotative, connotative, and mythological interpretations. The results of this study indicate that the representation of a mother's love in the film Just Mom (2022) is manifested through several attitudes, including showing care for her child, demonstrating gentleness, constantly praying, and being affectionate toward her child. The representation of a mother’s love in Just Mom can also be illustrated through emotional affection, expressed by acts of love and emotional support; spiritual affection, shown through prayers; social affection, demonstrated by lying for a good cause; protective affection, by safeguarding from harm; affectionate firmness, through regulating family life; and affection through actions, such as hugging, kissing, caring, and cooking.
