Kamilah, Isna (2025) HOLISTIC LEADERSHIP IN THE QUR’ANIC PERSPECTIVE: AN ANALYSIS OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE IN THE STORY OF PROPHET SULAIMAN. S1 Undergraduate thesis, Universitas Darussalam Gontor.
Abstract
Complex problems influence the modern world require a holistic leadership model because this leadership model integrates all aspects of the leader's abilities. This is supported by the Multiple Intelligence Theory, which represents potential holistically. The discussion of leadership has been stated in the story of Prophet Sulaiman in Surah an-Naml, Sad, and al-Anbiya, so it needs more in-depth research on leadership from the perspective of the Qur'an. This research aims to understand the concept of holistic leadership in the Qur'an by examining Multiple Intelligences as one of its supporting components. Additionally, it examines the story of Prophet Sulaiman in the Qur'an by interpreting classical and contemporary mufassirs. This research is a type of library research using the descriptive method to describe this research, then an analytical method to analyze the indication of Multiple intelligences in the story of Prophet Sulaiman and its correlation with the concept of holistic leadership. The results show that the story of Prophet Sulaiman indicates multiple intelligence highlights, including linguistic intelligence, logic-mathematic intelligence, Interpersonal intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, naturalistic intelligence, and existential intelligence. These intelligences shape four domains of holistic leadership, including the analytical domain supported by logical-mathematical intelligence required by the theme of ḥukma and ‘ilma (al-Abiya 78-79 and an-Naml 15), which implies the realization of judicial logical reasoning, analytical information facts, and strategic problem-solving. The conceptual domain is shaped by intrapersonal intelligence and linguistic intelligence, as indicated by the terms ḥushira and yūzʿun (an-Naml 17), which foster teamwork, group organization, and interpersonal communication. The emotional domain is reflected in syukr and al ḥamdu (an-Naml 15, 19, and 40), which contribute to developing self-awareness and self-control, facilitating transformational leadership through intrapersonal and naturalistic intelligence. The spiritual domain is exemplified by Sulaiman's awwaab (Sad 30) personality, underscoring the importance of spirituality in leadership and reflecting the depth of his spiritual connection and guidance. This research requires further exploration through modern science and scholarly studies because multiple intelligences regarding the Quranic perspective are difficult. The researcher hopes that future researchers will make this discussion even better and be able to expand the debate on Multiple Intelligence with other Qur'anic values and ways to implement these concepts within an Islamic framework.
