Azhari, Muhammad Halim
Abstract
The Qur’an serves as a guide for humanity, and those who memorize it will attain honor. Memorizing the Qur’an is one way to train oneself with discipline, leading to personal improvement. The tahfidz program and its various regulations provide clear direction in the memorization process, particularly for members of Jam'iyyatul Hufadz at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Despite having a busy schedule, the students strive to maintain their Qur’an memorization and develop their self-concept, which includes physical, psychological, social aspects, as well as their views and feelings about themselves. This study aims to explore the relationship between Qur’an memorization and self-concept, as well as its application among the students of Jam'iyyatul Hufadz at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. The type of this research is quantitative associative with a correlational design. The sample consists of 82 students. Data was collected through questionnaires, documentation, and observation. For data analysis, both descriptive and inferential approaches were used, applying the product moment correlation formula. From this study, it can be concluded that: (1) there is a significant correlation between the Qur’an and self-concept, as evidenced by the analysis showing a significance value of Rhitung = 0.505, which is greater than Rtabel = 0.316 at a significance level of 5%. This indicates that the relationship between the memorization of the Qur’an and the self-concept of the Jam’iyyatul Hufadz students is 50.5%, meaning that the remaining 49.5% is influenced by other unexamined variables. (2) The distribution of Qur’an memorization among the students shows that 40 students (48.8%) have memorized 1-5 juz, 20 students (24.3%) have memorized 6-10 juz, 8 students (9.7%) have memorized 11-15 juz, 9 students (10.9%) have memorized 16-20 juz, 3 students (3.6%) have memorized 21-25 juz, and 3 students (3.6%) have memorized 26-30 juz. Based on the conclusion, the researcher made several suggestions, namely: (1) The Jam'iyyatul Hufadz Group at the Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School should increase the memorization target for students per period. (2) Students who join the Jam'iyyatul Hufadz group should be more consistent in maintaining and increasing their memorization of the Al-Qur’an. This study is still imperfect, and therefore futher researh is needed to reinforce the findings and enhance the validity of the results.
