Abstract
ABSTRACT
Background: Typhus is a disease that attacks the digestive tract and is
caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. Typhus can spread quickly, generally
through the consumption of food or drinks that have been contaminated
Salmonella typhi bacteria. Objective: to determine the correlation of hygiene
and healthy living knowledge, attitudes and behavior to the incidence of
typhus in Islamic boarding school Gontor for girls 1. Method: this type
of research was an analytical observational study with a case-control
approach where the number of samples was 110 respondents. Statistical
analysis of a statistical test that is using the Chi-square test. Results: it
showed that 86,4% of respondents had good knowledge. It indicated that
35.5% of respondents had good attitudes about hygiene and healthy life.
There was 82.7% of respondents who had good behavior. Statistical test of
knowledge with typhus incidence had p-value = 0.405 meant that there was
no significant correlation, for statistical test attitudes with typhus incidence
p = 0.842 which meant there was no significant correlation, and for the
statistical test of behavior with typhus incidence the value of p = 0.001
meant that there was a significant correlation with OR = 7.111 Conclusion:
there was no significant correlation between knowledge and attitudes with
typhus incidence, and there was significant between behaviour with typhus
incidence.
Keywords: attitude, behavior, knowledge, typhus incidence
