Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low student engagement and learning outcomes in Islamic Culture and Histories (SKI) subject for class 5 pupils in MI. Initial observations revealed a lack of enthusiasm among students, and their exam scores did not meet the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). Conventional teaching methods, which failed to actively engage students, were identified as the main cause. To overcome this, the Fun Thinkers Book (FTB), known for its interactive and enjoyable learning experience, was introduced to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. The objective of this study is to enhance the activity and learning outcomes of class 5 puils using the FTB media in the SKI subject and to evaluate its effectiveness in helping students meet KKM standards. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. In the first cycle, student engagement reached 70%, with an average score of 88.00, and 88% of students met the KKM. In the second cycle, student engagement increased to 100%, the class average rose to 93.6, and 96% of students met the KKM. The results showed that the FTB media effectively improved both student engagement and learning outcomes, particularly on topics such as the "Hudaybiyyah Treaty" and the "Constitution of Medina." It is recommended that future research optimize the use of FTB and provide training for teachers. Additional support should be provided to students who have not met the KKM, and combining FTB with other methods may further enhance student engagement and educational quality.
