Abstract

Effective communication is very important for the smooth running of organizations, including the FORBIS IKPM Gontor organization, which has 614 members from various regions in Indonesia and even abroad in maintaining harmony and solidarity. The purpose of this research is to find out how organizational communication is carried out by the Management of the Pondok Modern Family Association Business Forum (FORBIS IKPM) Gontor in maintaining solidarity. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation. The analysis was carried out using reduction, presentation and conclusion techniques. Data validity testing was carried out using triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure the credibility of the findings. Referring to the theory of formal communication flows in organizations, this research reveals that organizational communication at FORBIS IKPM Gontor plays an important role in maintaining solidarity between administrators. Four types of communication; up to down, down to up, horizontal, and diagonal; implemented to strengthen cooperation within the organization. Up to down communication is carried out by the General Chair by providing direction and instructions so that all members understand the goals of the organization. WhatsApp and Zoom Meeting are used as the main media for communication. This communication pattern is also inclusive, allowing input from members to create a collaborative atmosphere. On the other hand, down to up communication allows members to convey suggestions that are received positively by superiors, creating a conducive work environment. Horizontal communication between division heads strengthens synergy, while diagonal communication ensures coordination between divisions. Overall, open and structured organizational communication at FORBIS IKPM Gontor has succeeded in overcoming structural obstacles and increasing solidarity.
