Islamic Cultural History (SKI) is a crucial subject that introduces students to the rich tapestry of Islamic civilization, its value, and its cultural wisdom. However, tradisional teaching methods often fail to fuly engage students, leading to suboptimal learning results. The Gallery Walk strategy was chosen as an alternative teaching approach due to its interactive nature. This strategy encourages active student participation through exploration, group discussion, and collaborative learning, creating a more dynamic and engaging learning environment.
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Gallery Walk Strategy in enhacing student activeness and learning result in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) for Grade 9 student at MTs Ash-Shiddiqiyyah Cirebon. The Gallery Walk Strategy was chosen for its interactive neture, which encourages active student participation through group discussuion and exploration of the learning material.
This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kurt Lewin model consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in two cycles, with the subject of 28 students of class 9. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively.
The results showed that the application of the Gallery Walk strategy significantly improved the activeness and learning result of grade 9 students on SKI material, namely with the results of student activeness in cycle I presentation reaching 49%, while in cycle II it increased to 80%. The average value of student learning result in cycle I was 55 and increased in cycle II to 78 with a presentation of completeness reaching 64%.
In conclusion, the findings of this study demonstrate that the Gallery Walk Strategy is an effective approach for enhancing student activeness and learning result in Islamic Cultural History. This interactive strategy can serve as a valuable alternative teaching method for educators seeking to improve the quality of learning in the classroom.
