The phenomenon of hijrah has become a widespread trend in Indonesia in recent years, starting among artists, musicians, political figures, and social media influencers. The hijrah trend has also inspired the world of music as a means of da'wah communication, one of which is through the music video “Hijrah” by Nasyid Gontor 2. This music video represents the phenomenon of hijrah through visual and symbolic narratives. This research was conducted to analyze the representation of the meaning of hijrah in the music video “Hijrah” by Nasyid Gontor 2 using a qualitative approach through a semiotic method that refers to Roland Barthes' semiotic theory with three indicators: denotation, connotation and myth. The results showed that the meaning of hijrah in this music video is represented in makaniyah (physical migration) through the movement of children from home to boarding school. In maknawiyah (spiritual), hijrah is represented through the fikriyah (thought) aspect which is represented through the scene of the child's character's earnestness in learning, awareness of the importance of studying, and the obligation to practice his knowledge. The syu'uriyah (character) aspect is shown through the scene where the father character takes the child character to the boarding school to study. The sulukiyah (behavior) aspect is represented through the scene of the child character's request for permission from the father character and also the independence of the child character in choosing the decision to study at the boarding school. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of communication studies, especially in the semiotic tradition through Roland Barthes' theory. Practically, this research is expected to make a positive contribution and provide understanding to the public in interpreting communication messages from a music video.
