Abstract
Human development and economic growth play important roles in poverty reduction, particularly in Muslim-majority countries. In Islam, economic development in addition to aiming to increase income and minimize inequality, development also has moral elements that refer to developing education and ensure equitable access to basic services and health care. This research aims to unravel the impact of economic growth and human development on poverty. The method used is a quantitative research method with a panel data analysis approach using the E-Views 12 test tool. This panel's data analysis uses secondary data combining time series and cross-sectional data from eight developing Muslim countries from 2013 to 2022. The results of the fixed effects model (first difference) of this study shows that HDI exerts a negative and significant impact on poverty levels. The impact of economic growth on poverty is more subtle and context-dependent. The findings of the study indicated that economic growth does not have a substantial impact on poverty reduction. While other macro variables have been shown to exert a positive yet insignificant effect on poverty in eight Muslim countries from 2013 to 2022.
